                Rt. Hon. Ali Babatunde Ahmad is currently the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly. Though born in Kaduna, he is of Ilorin, Kwara State parentage. He holds an LLB (Hons) degree from Bayero University, Kano graduating as the best Graduating Law Student, and was called to Bar in 1989. He was also called to the New York Bar in school, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, and his doctor of Juridicial Science (SJD) at the George Washington University Law School, Washington DC, IN 2000. He was a law lecturer at Faculties of Law at Bayero University, Kano and University of Ilorin, where he rose to Associate Professor and Acting Dean of Law.

                Dr Ahmad joined active politics in 2005 when he was appointed into various positions by the then Governor of Kwara State and current Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON. He rose to become the Hon. Attorney-General and Commisioner for justice of Kwara Satate.

In 2011, his people beckoned on him to contest the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency seat of the House of Representatives. He won in the House of Representatives, he became the chairman, House Committee on Justice. His performance in the House stood him out: he was a member of the Governing Council of that foremost Institution, the National institute of Legislative Studies: he was a prominent member of the Farouk Lawan-led Investigate Panel of Fuel Subsidy Scam. In that Panel, he came, saw and conquered as he completed the assignment without any bribery allegation against his person: he spearheaded the strategy for the smooth movement of the 37 lawmakers from PDP to APC. Many of his bills were passed by the House: indeed he is reputed to be NO. 1 legislator who sponsored the highest number of Bills in the 7th Assembly. DR. Ahmad also broke another legislative history in this country as someone who successfully lobbied the House of passing ten of his bills in one sitting, a feat that has never been recorded since Nigeria’s Independence. His sagacity and hard work do not lie only in quantity but Justice Bill described by former Chief Justice of Nigeria Aloma Mukhtar as a revolution in Nigeria Criminal Justice Administration was conferred with the honour of Lawmaker of the year 2015. A book titled was also written in his honour in recognition of his stewardship at the National Assembly
